Responding to the reduction in the excise duty announced under the Union Budget 2011-12, FMCG major, Procter & Gamble (P&G) has cut down the prices of its baby diapers and sanitary napkins by up to 15 percent. This reduction in prices has become effective from March 16, 2011.
The company sells diapers under the brand name 'Pampers' and sanitary napkins under the brand name 'Whisper'.
P&G has reduced the retail price of Whisper Sanitary Napkins and Pampers Baby Diapers, across specific SKUs.
This revision in prices was due to the reduction in excise duty on baby diapers and sanitary napkins from 10 percent to five percent, announced in the recent budget.
Post revision the 'Whisper' sanitary napkin which till recently was sold in the price range of Rs. 33 to Rs. 135 for different sized packs, would now be made available in the range of Rs. 30 to Rs. 130.
Similarly, 'Pampers' baby diapers which were priced in the range of Rs. 65 to Rs. 750, will now be made available in the price range of Rs. 55 to Rs. 700.
