Happy Hanky launches new collection

The handkerchief is a classic, practical accessory that has long been a part of special occasions & wedding ceremonies and is a new handbag staple for the eco-chic. However, the plain, white hankies that women use always look like an afterthought. Happy Hanky is setting a new trend with its line of fun, stylish handkerchiefs.

Colleen Corcoran, now 30, has been a collector and carrier of hankies since she was 7 years old. She read many blogs and articles from people saying they had limited choices for choosing hankies and often they had to carry their grandmothers' old hankies because there were no department stores or boutiques that sold a modern line.

This inspired Colleen to design her own line of hankies called Happy Hanky.

She uses fresh, colorful cotton prints and trims to give the line a fun, flirty, retro feel.

She named the line Happy Hanky after remembering that her mom told her hankies hold special moments. "My mom gave me my first hanky when I was 7 yrs old and told me that hankies were meant to dry happy tears and hold memories. For that reason hankies have always been special to me and I've carried a hanky ever since I was a child. Of course they have practical uses like blotting your brow on a hot day or touching up make-up but I can't even count the times I've been out with friends or family and laughed so hard I cried - my hanky captures that memory."

The feel-good poem found on the Happy Hanky packaging was written by Colleen's mom.

The gift trends see consumers looking to buy items that represent a gift of thought rather than money, so items that strike an emotion, like Happy Hanky, are making great gifts for the people they care about. They are ideal for the bridal party and women of all ages.

Colleen has also seen a quick increase in sales from people wanting to become more earth-friendly and going sans tissue. The recent creation of the "I'm Not A Tissue" hanky allows the eco-chic to express their denunciation of paper products.
