INVISTA's Performance Surfaces & Materials business has increased its investment in Ashburn Hill Corporation (AHC), a manufacturer of next generation, flame-resistant apparel for industrial and firefighting applications.
“INVISTA is delighted to be able to invest further funding in order to support AHC in building its business in the flame-resistant garment market," said Jeff Brown, vice president of INVISTA's performance materials segment. “The company has demonstrated its ability to innovate and grow over the past two years since INVISTA acquired its initial stake.”
Since 2009, AHC has launched a range of revolutionary protective apparel developed with its TECGEN fiber; the line offers significant improvements in comfort to workers requiring protection to NFPA 2112 and 70E standards, as well as to firefighters seeking a comfortable alternative to turnout gear used in non structural fire fighting scenarios.
“These products have been well received by an industry where comfort and safety are of paramount importance,” said Brown.
Amongst other accolades, AHC received Occupational Health & Safety magazine's prestigious new product of the year award in October 2010.
“We are pleased that INVISTA has chosen to increase its stake in Ashburn Hill,” said Jon Heard, AHC's president and CEO. “This is a very positive signal at a time when we are in the process of scaling up production with a range of products in response to very positive industry feedback to our offering.
