UNIQLO is pleased to introduce Super Cool Biz, a stylish new way to work through the anticipated summer power shortages in cool comfort. This new style takes the Cool Biz campaign a step further by providing more style choices with greater functionality than ever before. UNIQLO Super Cool Biz will help you stay stylish while actively saving energy in the hot summer weather.

A super new way to stay cool

In 2005, Japan's Ministry of the Environment began encouraging businesses to help conserve energy by setting air conditioners to 28ºC throughout the summer months. The Cool Biz campaign was designed to ensure that office workers could work in comfort in the face of higher indoor temperatures.

This year, the newly revamped Super Cool Biz campaign is redefining the office dress code again. Offices across Japan are set to become more casual than ever before, in a nationwide bid to aggressively save energy during the hottest days of summer. In line with these efforts, UNIQLO is expanding its unique Super Cool Biz lineup to benefit all working people, not just office staff, so everyone can breeze through the dog days of summer in cool, comfortable style.

UNIQLO Central World Store

UNIQLO targeted customer needs through surveys of 400 working people (male: 300 / female: 100), and determined that this year's Super Cool Biz campaign would need to combine smart looks with cooling and deodorizing functionality. Many of the 100 women surveyed were interested in this summer's most popular styles, but both men and women expressed a strong desire to stay cool in the summer heat (82%), minimize body odors (48.4%), and look sharp (42.6%).

UNIQLO also observed that many people view this summer as an opportunity to start wearing more casual apparel at work. This was clear in the rising number of individuals who expressed an interest in wearing polo shirts and chino pants. But it was equally apparent that many people are hesitant to tone down their looks at work too much without a clearly defined summer dress code.

UNIQLO functionality for ultimate summer comfort

Functional, added-value items are a UNIQLO specialty, and this summer there is a wide range of jackets, shirts, cut & sewns, pants, innerwear and even underwear to choose from.

A single layer makes all the difference when you want to stay dry and comfortable, especially if that layer is UNIQLO's Sarafine or Silky Dry innerwear. Polo shirts with additional deodorizing capabilities quickly neutralize body odors, while perspiration becomes a problem of the past with quick-dry T-shirts--and that's just scratching the surface of UNIQLO's varied Super Cool Biz summer lineup. Special items for women, such as UNIQLO's Bra Top, the garment with a built-in bra, help to cut down on the number of layers worn. And the UV Cut line of shirts and cut & sewns offer protection from the sun's harmful rays.

Stay cool and comfortable this summer with UNIQLO's diverse range of highly functional Super Cool Biz items, whether at work or normal days.
