Ahmedabad-based retailer JadeBlue mulls pan-India presence

Mr Jitendra Chauhan, Chairman & MD, Jade Blue Lifestyle (I) Ltd, which operates the lifestyle retail chain – JadeBlue, set up his first clothing retail store in 1995 in Ahmedabad, two years before Mr Kishore Biyani set up his first Pantaloon store in Kolkata in 1997.

Much water has flowed in the river Sabarmati, which flows through Ahmedabad, since then. Mr Chauhan too has rapidly expanded his retail network in Gujarat and neighbouring states, and now plans to head south, with a store in Hyderabad, also.

It is a luxury lifestyle retail chain renowned for the breadth and depth of exclusive menswear and fashion merchandise. It is one of India's largest exclusive menswear stores. JadeBlue offers many of the world's well known men's formals, casuals, occasion wear brands, fabrics, professional outfitting, customized designs, ethnic wear and accessories.

JadeBlue, a pioneer of the multi-brand format in Gujarat, has on its shelves, global and Indian renowned apparel brands like Arrow, Zod, Gas, Color Plus, Wrangler, etc. Among its in-house brands and collections are Greenfibre, JB Studio, Metal, Dulha and JadeBlue.

JadeBlue has over 30 years of rich experience in bespoke tailoring and a client list that reads more like a celebrity list. It is this in-depth expertise about top-notch tailoring combined with knowledge of current and future trends that gives an edge to the product line in JadeBlue, Greenfibre and JB Studio brands, as well as Dulha and Metal collections.

These inhouse-brands are designed and manufactured under direct supervision of both Mr Jitendra Chauhan and his brother, Mr Bipin Chauhan, helped by their team of experts. The brands have a unique idenity of their own, because of their choice of raw materials, cut, colours, styles and patterns.

Informing about his expansion plans to fibre2fashion, Mr Chauhan said, “Recently JadeBlue successfully launched three new stores in April alone, at Raipur, Bhavnagar and Udaipur and one store was opened at Nagpur in May.

“The group is embarking on an aggressive expansion programme with four more store launches on the cards for the second half of 2011. One has been proposed in Hyderabad, a third store in Ahmedabad and a second store in Surat and Nagpur, respectively.

“Additionally, JadeBlue is very soon launching an exclusive flagship store at Safal Mondeal Retail Park in Ahmedabad. Spanning a total area of 12,000 sq. ft., this exclusive JadeBlue store will be a luxury destination for shoppers and offer super and hyper luxury fashion brands with topnotch bespoke services under one roof.

“This will take in all, JadeBlue's presence to 10 cities including, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Vapi, Bhavnagar, Indore, Raipur, Udaipur and Nagpur”, he said.

Explaining the rationale behind the expansion, Mr Chauhan said, “It is an effort of to widen our network and create a pan-India presence. JadeBlue has been present in a multi brand retail format so far. However, in a move to extend its reach to its customers, it has also come up with a new format of retail stores offering in-house brands. The recently launched Raipur and Nagpur stores are the first in this format”.
