Heavenly wins the Best New Business Award

Amy-Kate Crane and Kirsty van Deurs Goss, the star 'mumpreneurs' of Heavenly Bump, were delighted to pick up the Dorset Women In Business award for Best New Business.

The award recognises the remarkable ascent of the maternity wear company set up on the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth less than a year ago by the two former New Look managers, who decided to go it alone and set up their own business when New Look relocated its operations to London. One year and a lot of hard work later, the Best New Business award comes as vindication for their leap of faith.

The idea behind Heavenly Bump was to offer original, affordable maternity wear that was both stylish and comfortable. The idea caught fire immediately, and they found a willing audience thanks to high profile patrons like Lorraine Kelly, who featured Heavenly Bump's printed maxi dress on her show LK Today.

This appearance sparked a huge level of interest, and led to the Heavenly Bump website crashing as demand for the dress soared.

The girls are elated to have received award recognition for their business, as it has taken a lot of work to build up their fledgling company while at the same time juggling that commitment with raising their families. It takes a special kind of passion and determination to succeed as a 'mumpreneur', with a life ruled by to-do lists and always having your hands full with a new problem or challenge.

As well as the new business award, Heavenly Bump was also among the three finalists in the Dot Com Business of the Year category for the website. The site has proved fantastically successful as a means of promoting their maternity outfits, and currently receives over 1,000 hits a week.

As for future, it's all about expansion and growth for the Heavenly Bump maternity wear brand. They're currently lining up a move to new premises later in the year, with a brand new office and storage area. They've got big things in the pipeline, so expect to hear plenty more from Heavenly Bump in the near future!
