While photoshopped models in Summer issues of fashion magazines make all lycra look stunning, real women are often left wondering how to wear the latest swimwear trends in a figure-flattering way. Since most of us are more likely to be chasing kids down the beach than gliding down the runway, Swimco offers tips on how to choose the right trend for your shape:

Trend 1: The Pin-Up Girl

Classic Marilyn Monroe-style beauty is back on the beach, from high-waisted bottoms to 1-pieces with ultra-low leg cuts.

This Trend on Real Women:

Retro swimwear styles are the ultimate Tummy Tamer. 1-pieces feature gathered fabric in the midsection to mask the stomach area, and full bikini bottoms often have a front panel for tummy control. Retro-style tops are designed for Bust Support, hoisting up "the girls" with underwire and/or thick halter straps. These are styles of substance that celebrate curvy, feminine figures.

Trend 2: From the Bedroom to the Beach…

Lingerie-inspired swimwear reaches its climax this Summer with bustier tops that look much like a fancy bra, blurring the lines between swimsuit and bedroom attire.

This Trend on Real Women:

Most lingerie-style swim tops act as a push-up Bust Booster for smaller cup sizes. Fuller-busted ladies who want to avoid "busting out" should seek styles designed for additional support. Since lingerie-inspired swimsuits often come in cutesy prints, pear-shaped women can mix a busy top with a dark solid bottom as a Hip Slimmer.

Trend 3: Frill Seekers

Frills and ruffles encapsulate the flirty, feminine fashion vibe that's everywhere from the patio to the pool this Summer.

This Trend on Real Women:

Ruffles and frills can be a great Waist Shaper for straight figures. Create a curvier look with ruffles on a bikini top and bottom. For an easy Bust Enhancer, try a frilly bikini top or 1-piece with frills on the neckline. Ruffles add volume wherever they are placed, so use this trend sparingly, to balance out your figure.

Trend 4: Nude Beach!

Nude, neutral, and pastel tones create a subtle look that invites the addition of flashier accessories like a beaded sandal or metallic jewelry.

This Trend on Real Women:

Light-coloured swimsuits on fair skin tones can cause a "washed out" look. While bronzed beach babes contrast their tan with taupes, ivories, and powder pinks, those with fair skin may prefer a more saturated background colour with pastel highlights in the print.

Swimco's Fit Experts instill confidence in customers by fitting them with swimwear that makes them look and feel their best.
