Hameedia expands fashion retail realm

Kabeer Refai says they keep in sync with new global trends and fuse them into the Sri Lankan fashion experience by using communication methods their clientele are in tune with. This sense of educating shoppers in global fashion and culture could lead the way to a new "designer culture" in Sri Lanka where local designer names are not that celebrated yet.

"Gone are the days that the Sri Lankan customer came in for a shirt and trouser to a fashion house. The modern day customer expects a fashion advisor to be at the counter. He's looking for someone who can tell him; the in-color for the season, what kind of fabric would suit his skin tone, what kind of stitch is in fashion" says Fouzul Hameed founder and Chairman of the company.

With more stores adopting similar strategies in Sri Lanka a question to ask would be; will the next top fashion designers come from Sri Lanka?

"We believe that the Sri Lankan man will become more daring in his color selection and experiment more while still retaining his unique identity," adds Kabeer Refai.
