An inter-Ministerial Committee, comprising of Commerce Secretary, Agriculture Secretary and Textiles Secretary, took stock of the current cotton situation in the country, including the availability, prices and export scenario.

The Committee has decided that the current dispensation may continue, a Commerce Ministry statement said.

However, the Committee will keep a watch on the situation and meet as and when the situation warrants, the release added.

Meanwhile, cotton export registrations have crossed 5.8 million bales of 170 kg each during the current cotton year, according to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
