Rieker Vietnam footwear factory has been granted license to invest US$ 14 million in the Quang Ngai Industrial Zones (IZ), the highest investment in IZ so far.
The construction for footwear production unit on 10 hectares of land in Tinh Phong Industrial Zone located in Son Tinh district will commence in August 2011 and the first phase is likely to be completed by 2012-end.
On completion in 2014, the factory will create about 5,000 jobs, and will also provide indirect earning opportunities to another 2,500 local people.
Rieker expects to manufacture 7 to 8 million pairs of shoes annually at the new unit, fetching about US$ 15 million in exports.
