The World Bank has sanctioned grant for pollution cap and trade scheme launched by the Government in the country. The grant is to the tune of US $ 500,000 under its Institutional Development Fund for the design of a Pilot Market based Emissions Trading Scheme against the estimated cost of US $ 577,185. This Scheme is also known as 'Cap-and-Trade', so as to address the issue of higher particulate matter in ambient air. The Government has undertaken the task to design the Pilot for a few select industrial areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamilnadu.
