China's exports of leather garments have registered a decline in both in terms of volume and value during the first seven months of the current year.
During January-July 2011, China exported 7.81 million pieces of leather garments, which is an 18.5 percent decline compared to the corresponding period of 2010. Value-wise, the exported leather garments were worth US$ 370 million, a year-on-year decline of 17.2 percent.
In the first seven months of 2010, China's leather garments had grown 17.9 percent year-on-year in volume and 26.1 percent year-on-year in value.
China imported 120,000 pieces of leather garments during January-July 2011, showing a year-on-year increase of 94.7 percent. These garments were worth US$ 43.11 million, up 98.1 percent year-on-year. These growth rates were 49 and 50.7 percent higher than the growth rates achieved during the corresponding period of 2010 in volume and value, respectively.
