Panalpina, one of world's leading providers of supply chain solutions, opened a new branch office in the city of Jaipur, India. Jaipur, also called the “Pink City”, has a large number of companies that export construction material, automotive products, handicrafts, jewelry and carpets. It plays an important role in the company's global growth strategy.

“Panalpina has a very ambitious growth strategy for India and we plan to expand our services by listening to our customers. In our annual Customer Satisfaction Survey 2011, Jaipur was nominated by a majority of our customers as a preferred location where they wanted Panalpina to have its own office. The newly opened branch in north India is one of many more to come”, says Rene Wernli, Managing Director, Panalpina India.

The Jaipur branch has been opened to meet increased customer demands and to strengthen Panalpina's position as one of the prominent supply chain and logistics solutions providers in India. Jaipur represents an enormous opportunity for Panalpina because it boasts a massive target customer base. The city is being developed as a multiproduct Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with exclusive zones for light engineering, handicraft, gems and jewelry and apparel companies.

While Jaipur is recognized as the crafts capital of India with well-established handicrafts, textiles, furniture, gems and jewelry industries, it is also home to many companies in the segments of automotive, electronics and manufactured goods. Panalpina on the other hand is well-known globally for providing specialized solutions to companies operating in various industries including Telecom, Automotive and Hi-Tech. “The companies in Rajasthan State operating in these industries will now be able to benefit from the local presence of a global logistics provider”, says Sandeep Choudhary, Area Head of Marketing and Sales, Panalpina India.

“We have invested in very knowledgeable employees with significant supply chain and logistics management experience, which is a rare commodity in this market. Our Jaipur branch will be invaluable in adding to Panalpina India's service offerings to north India's present and future customer base”, adds Rupesh Gupta, Head of North District, Panalpina India.

The Panalpina Group is one of the world's leading providers of supply chain solutions, combining intercontinental Air and Ocean Freight with comprehensive Value-Added Logistics Services and Supply Chain Services. Thanks to its in-depth industry know-how and customized IT systems, Panalpina provides globally integrated end-to-end solutions tailored to its customers' supply chain management needs. The Panalpina Group operates a global network with some 500 branches in more than 80 countries. In a further 80 countries, it cooperates closely with partner companies. Panalpina employs approximately 15,000 people worldwide.

Launched in 1986, Panalpina India is headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana and now has a workforce of more than 350 employees located in 13 offices throughout the country. Panalpina India has business units covering the four major districts of north and east, west, southwest and southern India.
