Free Zones on road to success

It was further informed that there were 2 divisions in the Free Zones namely 'Enclaves' and 'Factory Zones'. There are four enclaves namely Tema, Takordi, Shama & Kumasi. Shama is the largest with 3,000 acres, yet had failed to see any significant development.
Currently 35,000 labourers are being employed nationwide in the Free Zones, while in the Eastern Region 3,000 are working in the nine companies.
The Government was looking forward to investments, especially in the textiles and garments, jewellery, handicrafts, ethnic beauty products, metal as well as hand tool fabrication.
Ms Amable also invited investors to invest in service provision areas like development of the enclaves, roads, water and electricity in the Free Zones.
