Synthetic leather sports shoes export bounces strongly

Statistical data provided by Ministry of Industry and Trade show that, in December 2007, foreign earnings from synthetic leather sports shoes continued to move up, accounting for 19 percent of total footwear exports turnover.

In this period, Vietnamese enterprises reaped US $78.65 million, representing a year–on–year growth of 57.9 percent and up by 7.4 percent over previous month, November.

Key export markets of the product include the US with $20.3 million with year-on–year boost of 68.6 percent, UK worth $11.7 million, up 66 percent, Belgium for $8.2 million, growing by 298.8 percent and Netherlands at $5.8 million showing a surge of 168.9 percent.

On the other hand, knitted–capped sports shoes earned export revenue of $8.4 million in December, rendering a month-on–month growth of 28.5 percent.

In the period of January to December, Vietnam exported nearly 502.8 million pairs of footwear and generated $ 3.993 billion, registering year–on–year rise of 11.8 and 11.2 percent respectively.
