Still, several inches of snow fell across the Great Lakes, interior Northeast and the St. Lawrence Valley. The Intermountain West received more stormy weather mid-week dumping heavy snows across the mountains from Utah to Colorado and New Mexico.
This storm reorganized late week in Texas that became the strong weekend storm. Much colder air moved in behind the storm in the Northern Plains. Late week, the pattern shifted to one that favored a warmer and drier trend for much of the West.
Consumer Impact in the East/Mid-Western North America: Although warmer temperatures to last year were experienced in most locations, the strong storm events kept shoppers from a spring mood. The exception was late week across the Southeast in advance of the weekend storm with temperatures into the upper 60s and 70s.
Consumer Impact in the Western Portions of North America: Compared with the persistent winter storminess of the past several weeks, the relatively warmer and drier weather was a boost to most businesses, as consumers were out and about.
