The International Leather Goods Fair (ILGF), which began yesterday, will go on till February 24, at Netaji Indoor Staduim, Kolkata. The exhibition was inaugurated by Industry Secretary Sabyasachi Sen.
It is the thirteenth time in a row that, expo is organized with an aim of promoting domestic leather industry. ILGF, brings together national as well as international enterprises under one roof.
More than 50 countries are participating here, to showcase their products and find new avenues of trade in global market. Some of them being USA, UK, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, South Africa, France, Russia, Cyprus and UAE.
India has grown to become the second largest producer of footwear and leather garment producer in the world, and with such events, there is a huge scope for the domestic industry to flourish further.
ILGF has emerged as an important platform for buyers and sellers across globe to benefit from new opportunities and expand their business. Last year ILGF generated business of nearly Rs40 crore, and organizers are expecting a lot more this time.
