After a few months of growth, the number of persons in employment slightly decreased in December 2007.

The number of persons in employment in December 2007 was 864,361 (compared to the previous month it went down by 0.4%); of whom 489,779 men and 374,582 women. The vast majority of persons in paid employment (90.9%) were employed by legal persons. Individual private entrepreneurs represented more than half of the self-employed persons, and farmers a little more than 38%.

Compared to a month before, the number of men in employment went down by 0.4% and the number of women in employment by 0.3%. The number of self-employed men remained on the same level as in November, but the number of self-employed women fell by 0.1%.

The number of persons in employment was the highest in services
In December 2007 most persons in employment worked in services (498,453), followed by industry (325,674) and agriculture (40,234).

The number of registered unemployed persons in December 2007 slightly increased
In December 2007, 68,411 unemployed persons (31,707 men and 36,704 women) were registered at the Employment Service of Slovenia. Compared to a month before, the number of registered unemployed men went up by 1.5%, but the number of registered unemployed women went down by 1.1%. Compared to December 2006, the number of registered unemployed persons dropped by 12.6%.

On average there were 71,336 unemployed persons registeredat the Employment Service of Slovenia in 2007, which is 16.9% less than in 2006.
