Prices of services up 0.3% on average

The retail prices of goods and services in the Republic of Serbia in January 2008 increased on average by 0.9% if compared to the previous month (the prices of goods increased by 1.2% and the prices of services by 0.3%). The retail prices in 2007, when compared to 2006, increased on average by 6.8 %.

The consumer price index in the Republic of Serbia in January 2008 increased by 0.8% on average if compared to the previous month. If compared with 2006, the consumer price index in 2007 increased on average by 7.0 %.

The difference between the retail price index and the consumer price index resulted from the various influences that the growth of prices of particular items had on these indices.

Observed by groups of products and in relation to the previous month, the following trends were noted in January 2008:
• the prices of industrial non-food products increased by 1.2% on average. In this group of products, the prices of oil derivatives increased. The prices of other products remained unchanged;
• the prices of services increased by 0.3% on average.
