Famous Desert Bazaar of Turkmenistan, enjoys the reputation of being the biggest open market place in the entire world. It offers an immense range of items to the visitors, who come from far and near to make purchases.

However, within a short span of time the bazaar will be shifted to a new place. Genç Çelikler Insaat Ticaret Sanayi A.S, a Turkish firm, has decided to construct open market in Çoganli district, which is slightly away from Asghabad.

The open market will come up with a total investment of nearly US $152 million, in 5,00,000 square meter area. The new premises will include around 12 open bazaars and hundreds of stores. The project is set to be complete by October 2010.

The new market will also include modern laboratories and large warehouses in the administration building. The Turkish firm plans to give a make over to the market by keeping its originality with a touch of modernity.

More than 1,00,000 people visit this place every week, for buying various items like garments, footwear, ornaments in gold and silver, furniture and carpets for more than 100 years.

The dull desert comes to life when this market opens for not only domestic customers but also for tourists who get to witness the rich, colourful and vibrant nation.
