Recognizing the positive social and environmental impact that green spaces have on communities, this Earth Day Timberland announces a global commitment to green 300 communities in the next two years, and to plant one million trees by 2010.

Over the course of Earth Day 2008, Timberland will complete 160 greening projects in 27 countries from the United States to Japan, Spain to Germany. 2,100 Timberland volunteers and 7,200 recruited volunteers will work on community greening projects across the globe for a total of more than 60,000 hours.

Jeff Swartz, president and CEO of Timberland will kick-off Timberland's global Earth Day initiative in the South Bronx neighborhood of New York City.
