A major fire broke out at the spinning mill number seven of Sangam India Limited, one of the largest polyester-viscose dyed yarn manufacturers, located at Biliya Kalan, Chittor Road, Bhilwara on May 3.

Massive clouds of flames engulfed the spinning mill, after a short circuit occurred at around 8.15 in the evening.

In an exclusive interview with Fibre2fashion, Mr Anil Jain, Sr Vice President, Finance disclosed, “The estimated loss of production on account of stop work due to the fire is expected to touch 1000 tons. With this fire we have bear a huge loss which is expected to reach about 12 crore. There were around 2,00,000 spindles in this section, out of which 7000 are damaged, which comes to around 3.5 percent of total spinning capacity of the mill.

“This particular section will remain closed for 4 month, as the fire has damaged the building along with machinery and we will have to install new preparatory machine. However, effective steps are being taken to restore the operation of the mill as early as possible.”
