Leather uppers shoe exports were 280 million pairs, down 15.4 percent. Average export price was at $7.6 per pair, soaring 21.2 percent.
It is worth noting that some enterprises have withdrawn from the export business, due to increasingly tight trading environment and rising pressure on operation.
According to Customs data, in the first quarter, the number of Chinese shoe enterprises was down 1,447 than the same period last year, of which, 1380 are domestic units. This shows that SMEs and local manufacturers are facing many difficulties and many have failed to rise above the challenges.
