Nuance awarded contract extension at George Bush, Houston

Trading as Liberty Duty Free, The Nuance Group (Houston), is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a three year duty free concession extension until 2014 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. Nuance has the duty free concession for Terminals A to D, where it currently operates two in-line stores and three kiosk retail outlets totaling over 4,000 square feet (3,760 square metre).

George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the 16th largest airport in the world based on 2007 passenger volume. In 2007, the Airport served over 43 million passengers and currently has nearly 700 departures daily. It offers scheduled non-stop domestic and international service to over 180 destinations.

Randy Goodman, Commercial Development Manager for the Houston Airport System, commented, “Nuance has proven to be a first class customer focused operator and we are very pleased with their performance since they first took over the duty free concession.

They have built very attractive duty free outlets and have managed to increase duty free sales per international enplanement by over fifty per cent since they began operations in 2005. What is particularly impressive is that they have achieved these gains despite having to deal with significant challenges including, most recently, the liquid and gel security restrictions.”

Richard Rendek, CEO for The Nuance Group North America, stated, “We are extremely pleased to have been granted this contract extension and we look forward to our continued relationship with the Airport Administration and the further growth of the business.”
