JETRO opens a Business Support Centre in Mumbai

We have finalised ambitious plan of Mono-Rail and Elevated-Rail. Bandra-Worli sea link will be completed within next six months. We are also exploring possibility of tunnel road from Worli sea-face to Nariman Point. We have also finalised a Project of Trance-Harbour Sea Link. Modernisation and expansion of Mumbai International Airport is already in progress.
We have got approval of second International Airport in Navi Mumbai and within next few weeks, the work of this airport will commence. We have strengthened and expanded eastern and western express highways. We are also constructing 16 new fly-overs, many sub-ways, ROBs and 50 skywalks across the city to facilitate smooth and hassle-free pedestrian movement.
Our innovative Housing Policy has got tremendous response from this sector. We have added various new components like FSI incentive, cluster approach and dynamic changes in DC regulations etc. which will be helpful in creating affordable housing stock for middle and economically weaker sections of the society. There is tremendous scope of investment in housing, infrastructure and transportation sector of Mumbai.
Redevelopment plan of Dharavi is also almost finalised and most of the hurdles have been cleared. Though this ambitious project has been little delayed, this project will change the face of Mumbai and new modern city will emerge after the completion of this redevelopment plan. Here, too, have tremendous scope for investment in housing and infrastructure activities.
We have not restricted our plan of transformation of Mumbai for city area only, but have chalked out complete development of Mumbai Metropolitan region, which includes, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivali, Vasai, Virar, Ulhasnagar and other small Municipal Corporation area with an estimated cost of Rs. 2.50 lakh crores. This project will transform Mumbai Metropolitan Region into most liveable region of the country with all-modern and world-class amenities, transportation facilities and new avenues of industrial and financial development.
Transformation of Mumbai into world-class Metro is my personal dream and I am concentrating on it for last few years and, I am confident, within next few years, a new Metro out of this will emerge. I appeal to the investors, entrepreneurs from Japan to share their finance, investment & technical expertise in fulfilling this dream. State Government will accord red carpet treatment to all those who are interested in investment in Mumbai and in Maharashtra.
Apart from infrastructure, transportation and housing sectors, Mumbai and our State can provide ample opportunities of investments in retail, entertainment, finance, IT and Textile sectors also.
The business support centre of Japan may facilitate their entrepreneurs, investors and bankers in providing their skill, service, technology and expertise in these sectors. Here is an excellent opportunity for Japanese entrepreneurs to expand their business horizon.
I am sure; JETRO will be successful in boosting more investment from Japan to our State.
