Chengdu footwear seized from Russian wholesale market

At the start of September, over 10 million pairs of footwear made in Chengdu city were seized from a wholesale market in Russia. Following this, all the local shoes enterprises owned by Chengdu based enterprises in the market were ordered to close down by the local Government department of Russia.
Chengdu city has been know as a hub for Chinese women footwear and a number of companies have been selling women shoes in Russia. It is estimated that the seizure involves over 500 women shoes enterprises who have been severely affected by this move.
Investigation results showed that nearly all of these shoes enterprises used illegal means to send footwear in to the Russian market. The seizure has caused tremendous damage to Chinese footwear traders and it was realized by most of the affected companies that the only way to tap a broad market is to improve the quality of the goods and do business using legal trade channels.
