Minister of Commerce, Chen Deming recently said that China's revenues from investment made overseas by Chinese companies reached US $52.1 billion by the end of last year, representing a growth of 96.7 percent from 2007.
He added by saying that the Chinese government has taken this development very positively and hoped that this news would encourage more and more companies to develop their business in overseas markets.
At the same time, contracted projects in overseas markets also achieved a turnover of $56.6 billion and newly signed contracts totaled to $104.6 billion, an increase of 35 percent, both in 2008.
He categorically said that, this shows that Chinese overseas business is expanding, which has a direct co-relation to the trade surplus, therefore it is unfair and incorrect for some countries to say that China only pays attention to trade surplus.
