According to recent statistics released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's total import and export trade reached US $170.73 billion, down 22.8 percent from the same period last year in April.
Of which, exports registered $91.94 billion, down 22.6 percent and imports amounted to $78.8 billion, down 23 percent while April trade surplus recorded $13.14 billion, an increase of 28.3 percent.
From January to April, total imports and exports touched $599.41 billion, down 24.3 percent, of this exports scored $337.42 billion, down 20.5 percent and imports marked $261.99 billion, down 28.7 percent.
But the overall foreign trade showed an improvement with it growing by 5.4 percent in April. Exports and imports both grew by 1.8 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively, when corresponded with the month of March.
