PLGMEA demands R&D relief in pre-budget proposals

The Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) demanded a 6 percent research and development support on export of leather garments and goods for the year 2009-10 and 2010-11.

This demand has been put up in the form of proposals for the up-coming federal budget. The PLGMEA also demanded for a change in the duty drawback rate on leather garment's and leather good's export in consultation with it.

The PLGMEA also demanded five percent relief on last year's export quantity, on importing accessories used in the production of leather garments, meant for exports.

A zero percent mark up to leather garments and leather goods exports should be allowed by the government in opening 180 days L/C of raw materials.
