The Nuance Group Australia and Westralia Airports Corporation, the owner of Perth Airport, last week celebrated the opening of their new Arrivals duty free store, operating as F1RST Tax and Duty Free.

The expanded store covers 480 square metres, a 25 per cent increase on the previous store. The design modernises the store to create a more vibrant and attractive shopping environment with an expanded beauty offer, greater stock weight in all categories and enhanced capabilities for service delivery for both shoppers and Ready for Collection customers.

Speaking at the official opening celebrations, Jann Fisch, CEO, The Nuance Group Australia, commented: “Arrivals duty free has become extremely popular with our customers in recent years. This development at Perth Airport adds much needed space to expand the retail offer here in Perth and to deliver an enhanced customer service experience.”

Perth Airport CEO Brad Geatches added: “Last year we experienced strong international passenger growth with over 2.6 million people passing through the terminal. Perth Airport is pleased to be able to offer an improved duty free shopping experience with more choice and convenience for arriving passengers.”

In the first quarter of FY 09/10, international passenger growth at Perth Airport has seen an 11 per cent increase compared to the same period in FY 08/09.

The Nuance Group in Australia has been one of the pioneers for Arrivals duty free which has become extremely popular with customers. The Perth store further enhances the Nuance Arrivals store portfolio in Australia with other expansions and refurbishments having taken place in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in the last two years.

In April 2009, The Nuance Group Australia and Westralia Airports Corporation announced that they had extended Nuance's duty free contract at Perth Airport for an additional two years. The duty free concession operated by Nuance under the F1RST Tax and Duty Free brand will run to October 2013.
