Pakistan's leather export to France, Germany and Switzerland totaled to around $170 million, which accounted for only one percent of the total leather imports of these three countries. The country exported $61 million worth of leather to France, $106 million to Germany and $2 million to Switzerland.
Chairman of Pakistan Tanners Association Mr. Gulzar Firoz requested consul generals of these three countries to pay more attention to leather products of Pakistan, in a meeting held on December 16, wherein they also discussed about bilateral business relations and issuance of visa of the three countries to Pakistan exporters.
In this regard, French Consul General Mr. Pierre Seillan agreed to issue four years' visa to genuine and bona-fide members of the association. While, the German Consul General Dr. Christian Brecht favoured the idea of holding single-country exhibitions.
Dr. Brecht stated that in case of experiencing difficulties in obtaining visa, the genuine and bona-fide members of the association could approach the German Consulate that already issues visa in Karachi.
