Eastman Board names new member & announces dividend

The board of directors of Tennessee based largest polyester, fibre producer Eastman Chemical Company has elected Howard L. Lance as a director. Lance, 49, is chairman of the board, president and CEO of Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company.
“Company is pleased to have Howard join Eastman's board,” said Brian Ferguson, chairman and CEO. “His experience in the global information technology services industry as well as in manufacturing operations will serve Eastman well." Lance will serve in the class of directors for which the term in office expires at Eastman's annual meeting of stockholders in May 2008.
Lance joined Harris in January 2003 as president and CEO and was appointed chairman in June 2003. Prior to joining Harris, he was president of NCR Corporation, where he had served as chief operating officer of its Retail and Financial Group from July 2001 until October 2002.
He spent 17 years with Emerson Electric Company before joining NCR, being named executive vice president with operating responsibility for Emerson's Electronics and Telecommunications business in 1999. Earlier, Lance held positions in sales, marketing and product management in a career that began with Caterpillar Inc.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Bradley University and a Master of Science degree from Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management. Lance serves on the board of directors of several industry organizations including the Aerospace Industries Association, the Manufacturers Alliance and the National Association of Manufacturers.
