China's e-com sector sees 8% jump in female users in Feb

The number of female users in China's e-commerce sector increased by 8 per cent year-on-year to 446 million in February 2020, during the Covid-19 outbreak in the country, a recent report showed. E-commerce apps Taobao and Pinduoduo were among the top 10 apps that saw an active penetration among female users during the month, the report said.

During the month, the average time spent by female users on mobile internet soared 42.7 per cent year-on-year, while each female user spent an average of nearly 7 hours during the month on e-commerce apps, registering an increase of 10.3 per cent, Chinese media said citing the report by big data service provider QuestMobile said.

The report also mentioned an increasingly diverse channels for female users in online shopping, including content platforms, recommendation-based platforms, and social networking platforms.
