The newly approved pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce include Langfang, Yuncheng, Baotou, Anshan, Lhasa, and the Kazak autonomous prefecture of Ili.
Tax exemption and retail import will also be piloted in the zones, and enterprises’ joint construction and use of overseas warehouses will be encouraged, the letter said.
The state council’s letter also emphasised on working on risk prevention and personal information protection in fostering a good business environment for fair competition among market entities, according to Chinese media reports.
The state council also urged the provincial governments to strengthen organisation and leadership, promote development of the pilot zones, set up information management mechanism for e-commerce, and build a better development system for cross-border e-commerce with more supporting facilities.
