Instead, the nominees’ best pieces were displayed on mannequins in one of Medellín’s prime shopping centre - El Tesoro.
Also present was last year’s winner, Marga Weimans from the Netherlands with her latest Spring Collection.
Andrea Landa too will be invited to attend next year’s convention and also present her collection.
Leslie Holden, Head of Faculty of Department of Design and Management at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and head of the jury announced the winner of the IAF designer award.
He praised Andrea Landa for her collection - Tribal Queen, in which she used local materials in a very elegant way.
The nominees for the award included; Saurabh Kumar – India, Sonal Verma – India, Fernanda Da Silva – Brazil, Andrea Landa – Colombia, Love Citizens – Colombia and Yeo Ting Ting Jolene – Singapore.
The judges for the award were Leslie Holden, Martha Cálad - Fashion Lab Director at Inexmoda and Ed Gribbin, CEO of Alvanon. (AR)
