All that glitters can be gold if you are at Jewel – 2007, a jewellery exhibition organized by Gems & Jewellery Trade Council of India on January 10, 2007 at Rajpath club, Ahmedabad.

The exhibition took the visitors to the Nawabi era of Junagadh state with antique ornaments, while royal jewellery of Vadodara state enlivened the Gaekwars' glory.

The gem of the show was traditional jewellery from the pink city, Jaipur.

Moreover, around 30 leading jewelers presented antique jewellery, kundan jewellery and diamond jewellery. Ornaments from Mumbai and Thailand also captured the hearts of visitors.

The purpose of this exhibition was to give boost to gems and jewellery industry of the country, where Gujarat takes a lead. The state boasts more than 80 percent share in total exports of the country, informed Shantilal Patel, President of the Gems & Jewellery Trade Council of India to media persons.

During 2005-2006, diamond export from India valued at Rs52,120 crores and Gujarat had a lion's share.

In global gold market also, Gujarat has left all the Indian states behind. With the efforts of State Government, gold is given an artistic touch by National Institute of Design and National Institute of Fashion Technology.
