In October 2005, the consumer price index for all households in the whole of France fell by 0.1 percent (+0.3 percent in October 2004).The year-on-year price increase was 1.8 percent, after +2.2 percent last month.
The price index adjusted for seasonal variations was stable (+0.4 percent the previous month).
The underlying inflation indicator was stable month-on-month and climbed 0.9 percent year-on-year (+0.2 percent and +1.0 percent respectively the previous month).
In October, the decrease of overall index resulted from a drop in prices of transport and communication, combined with a rise in prices of fresh produce and some others slight price increases: in energy, health services, clothing and footwear, actual rentals, water supply and refuse collection.
Prices of foodstuffs except fresh produce, of other manufactures and of other services were stable.
