Ukraine to be 'Guest Nation' at Pitti Uomo 85

Now, in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, the Guest Nation at Pitti Uomo 85 and Pitti W 13 will be Ukraine, a country that has recently distinguished itself as one of the most interesting – and quickly growing – places in fashion research today.

It is a country that is succeeding in combining a strong and capable industrial organization with a true culture of contemporary design that is particularly vibrant among the new generations.

They are many up-and-coming Ukrainian designers who have successfully presented their collections in the world’s fashion capitals and are selling their creations to buyers from the Middle East, Russia and the United States and constantly arousing the interest of the international press.

A special setting inside Pitti W, at the Arena Strozzi will showcase the collections; Here are the names of the designers involved in the project up to today: Anna K, Anna October, Omelya Atelier, Paskal, Sasha Kanevski and Yasya Minochkina.

The project will be curated by Daria Shapovalova, creative director of Mercedez-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, video director of Nowfashion and the ambassador of Style.com in Ukraine that selected the participating designers.

“Ukraine is experiencing a true revolution in the fashion industry and Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days is proud to present the country’s finest talents at Pitti W, in the context of Pitti Uomo, one of the most influential and widely followed fairs on the world scene and the event that opens the calendar of the international fashion weeks.

“I am firmly convinced that this is the right time to present the Kiev Fashion Days designers at Pitti,” Daria Shapovalova adds in conclusion, “and to offer them more international visibility. After having staged special projects in London and Paris, it is the right time for Florence, the place where the world’s top buyers and the best creative minds on the fashion scene always choose to meet”.
