Denim pants for Muslims by Italian designer Luca Corradi raise storm

Luca Corradi, the renowned Italian designer, is toiling to succeed in his latest venture of selling jeans for Muslims in Cairo at around US $35 each.
These specially designed denim pants boasts features such as extra stretch for kneeling during prayer.
Al Quds Srl, the company based in northeast Italy makes the jeans, devices to put half a million sets on sale in eight Middle Eastern countries before September.
Al Quds started producing the trousers for Europe in Karachi, Pakistan. The Italian company promotes the trousers as `the jeans of choice for Islam,' according to the Al Quds Web site.
Al Quds has sold 10,000 sets while they sold in Europe at retailers such as France's Carrefour SA, the continent's largest supermarket operator.
Al Quds President Giorgio Lotta was motivated by the pants when he saw a photograph of a mosque during a prayer crowded with worshippers in jeans and then got in touch with Corradi.
The logo is in Arabic characters, and the seams are in green, the holy color of Islam, which requires prayer five times a day.
However, the UK Islamic Mission does not seem to favour this revolution.
"This is a type of exploitation of religion, of a place and a belief that is sacred for Muslims", SMT Wasti, a spokesman, said in an interview. "It's a way to prey on the sympathy of Muslims", he added.
