The Spring & Summer Fashion Week 2006 hits the runway, offering an array of bright colours and exciting new designs. More than 1,000 designs comprising 24 collections will be strutted down the catwalk along Daewoo Hotel's swimming pool.

Designer and director of Fashion Design Institute (FADIN), Minh Hanh, revealed 24 designers will participate in the fashion week.

She said the designers from HCM City are excited by fall and winter seasons in the north.

The Spring & Summer Fashion Week is seen as a challenge for the designers from HCM City as they are worry their designs will be criticised by Hanoian people.

Designer Quoc Binh will bring to fashion week his collection titled Indian's Adventure. "My collection Indian's Adventure is possibly my most favourite. I've never introduced my collection in summer season," said Binh.

The fashion week will open tonight with eight designers Thien Toan, Xuan Thu, Nhat Minh, Cong Khanh, Trong Toan, Tan Phat, Nguyen Sa and veteran designer Minh Khoa.

The event will continue tomorrow night and Sunday night with eight designers for each show and the participation of 50 models.

In its seventh consecutive year, the Viet Nam Fashion Week is held by Vinatex, FADIN and Mot (Mode) magazine. This is the first time the Spring & Summer Fashion Week will be held in Ha Noi. The previous shows in HCM City, Hue and Nha Trang were acclaimed by fashion experts.

The shows will begin at 8pm, in the Daewoo Hotel, Kim Ma Street. Admittance is by invitation only.
