Ellen Tracy, Modern Shoe sign deal in principle for footwear

Ellen Tracy announced a licensing agreement in principle with Modern Shoe Company LLC to design and manufacture footwear under the Ellen Tracy and Company Ellen Tracy brand names.

The Ellen Tracy footwear Collection will feature modern classic and elegant styling, fashioned and produced in Italy. The Company Ellen Tracy line supplements the Ellen Tracy Collection, in covering all classifications to include broader lifestyle needs.

The new lines will launch to the trade at the upcoming WSA show being held August 1-4, 2006 in Las Vegas, and will be available at fine department and specialty stores in February 2007.

Howard Rosenberger, President of Ellen Tracy, said, "Sophisticated, fashionable footwear is an important part of the Ellen Tracy woman's wardrobe, and I am confident that the seasoned professionals at Modern Shoe Company will create footwear that captures the feel and aesthetic of the Ellen Tracy brand in a new and fresh way that our consumers will relate to."

The Ellen Tracy collection features refined American sportswear, offering luxury fabrics, sophisticated colors, exquisite tailoring with an excellent fit. One of the top performing brands in designer bridge resources, Ellen Tracy is the cornerstone of specialty and department stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales. Licenses for the company include fragrance, handbags, jewelry, belts, outerwear, hosiery and optics. Ellen Tracy is a division of Liz Claiborne Inc.

Modern Shoe Company LLC was founded in 2005 and is based outside of Boston, Ma. The company's management team is seasoned footwear executives who were part of the former Maxwell Shoe Company. Katherine Remley, a partner and a former Maxwell Shoe Company executive will serve as President of both the Ellen Tracy and Company Ellen Tracy brands.
