The original bilingualchildren's apparel company unveiled its new Twins are Double Happiness(TM) onesies and long-sleeved lap t-shirts, just in time forMother's Day.
Embellished with the Chinese character for "double happiness," the onesies and t-shirts celebrate twins with a phrase that is meaningful to Poquito Spoiled founder Zaida Santana-Ha. "I learned of the phrase 'double happiness' during my first honeymoon to Hong Kong," Santana-Ha explained." I loved the phrase so much, I had it engraved on my husband's wedding ring not just as a reminder of our trip but because double happiness for us was so true. We had two weddings, a civil one and a religious one, and two wonderful honeymoons."
Although Santana-Ha doesn't have twins, her father is a fraternal twin. That family connection inspired her to design the new Twins are Double Happiness onesies.
Also ready for Mother's Day at Poquito Spoiled are matching mom-and-son or mom-and-daughter tank tops. Available in black or white with "Poquito Spoiled" embroidered in the customer's choice of colors, the tops give bicultural families a visible way to identify with their heritage.
That's just what Santana-Ha envisions for her designs. "Every Poquito Spoiled top is fun and functional, but it's also a reminder to the wearer that his or her unique history is something to be proud of," she said. "Beyond just having cute shirts to wear, I want my children and yours to know their bilingual voices areimportant and powerful." For many moms, that may be the best Mother's Day gift of all.
