Retailer Uniqlo had gained tremendous success through selling fleece jacket at a price and quality Japan had not seen every before. Uniqlo stores opened up nationwide and the name was known by almost all of the Japanese population as the jacket and all their products were available and supplied to all age levels.
The simple designs, quality that is far better than Gap, and the variety in colors brought Fast Retailing (the parent company) to be one of the most successful apparel retailer in Japan.
Still, the outstanding sales of the fleece did fade away and Uiqlo has been struggling with coming up with new products to bring back the party. Nevertheless, Fast Retailing's Uniqlo is always coming up with innovative ideas and plans that keeps the industry entertained.
Uniqlo has succeeded in increasing their sales by 70% in comparison to July of 2005 for their Cool Biz products. Their main product of men's shirts came in 120 prints and sold 3 million pieces.
Uniqlo now has over 700 stores in Japan, and have stores in the USA, England, Hong Kong, and other countries. The company is working hard at their oversea business but is at the same time working at improving their domestic stores. They will be strengthening the VMD's in their client based stores in order to increase stages for services.
From their autumn collection Uniqlo will be implementing products developed in their New York R&D center and will work at differentiating the new Uniqlo with the original Uniqlo.
