After getting failure as a surf retailer, Kennedy concentrated on his fledgling Kiwi surfwear brand and begins with $8 million in sales in just four year.
His Coastlines brand which was launched in 2002 was supported by eight surfshops to stock it. His aim was to design top quality gear that will increase profit margins and reduce the retail price.
It should have been of same quality, appeal etc. but at retail, it should be 20 percent less and the retailer had to make 50 percent more.
Coastlines brand is booming with increase in sales by 2000 percent and it is still rising.
