Indian Terrain to enlarge its retail base

The 75-crore Chennai-based Indian Terrain plans to expand its retail outlets by opening at least 25 new stores by March 2008. It presently operates through four exclusive merchandise stores and five franchisees.

Company's primary manufacturing unit in Chennai, which manufactures khakis and cargo pants plans to increase their capacity to 9 million pieces annually and to open another unit.

Indian Terrain aims to add up more product categories for men's range. It also has tied up with ATP to bring out a special sportswear line within next three years. This line of clothing and accessories will be available at the tournament venue and a few select outlets of the company.

In the financial year 2006 Indian Terrain turnover reached about Rs50 crore and anticipates a 50 percent growth in current fiscal year 2007. The company holds 5 percent share in the premium men's apparel market which is growing at 20 percent annually.

Celebrity Fashions, the holding company of Indian Terrain has about 10,000 employees, runs nine units which export garments to the US and EU markets.
