Sergio Rossi's new 2007 Men's Spring/Summer collection recalls the mythical world of Thomas Edward Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, the legendary character who, from the pages of books to Hollywood films, has come a long way.
Up to today, the main character of the Sergio Rossi collection is like a modern day Peter O'Toole, an untiring traveller, who along his journey observes the sunsets and sunrises that mark the times and highlights of his life.
The horizontal splendour of the sands wraps everything with a slow and sinuous rhythm, where what matters is the magic, although sometimes hard, of exploring. Passing through and stopping in the cities of the Red Sea, the souks full of colours, the spice stalls, all kinds of goods displayed in no apparent order but which are able to show that here the hands, ideas and populations of the world unite.
From the debut on the Pitti Uomo stage in Florence, our traveller arrives in Milan, in the oasis created in the Sergio Rossi Uomo boutique in Via della Spiga 5. A cool garden where tastes and music are combined in a new dimension of pleasure and relaxation.
International and always up-to-date, he recommences his journey headed towards the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, together with his wireless laptop and a wardrobe full of clothes and accessories, exclusive just like him.
Sartorial research on leathers and fabrics which are finished and denatured in order to achieve a fresh consistency, easy to wear, an almost insubstantial lightness, but still bearing witness to the long-standing artisan experience of Sergio Rossi.
You may find camel, tripon, and traditional hand-finished rustic, but the new collection also loves to be distracted by harpinco (special goat leather creased and washed) and panamino, jute fibre expertly beaten and woven for the new babouche and sandals.
