JA Apparel Corp announced the Company has signed a series of licensing agreements that will expand the geographic reach of the Joseph Abboud lifestyle brand into China and Asia as the Company continues to benefit from its revitalized brand and strong business momentum.
Marty Staff, President and Chief Executive Officer of JA Apparel, said the Company has signed 4 licensing agreements with premier manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in recent weeks, including a master licensing agreement with Judger Group that will result in opening of 30 Joseph Abboud stores in China itself in 2008, with the number of stores expected to exceed 100 by 2013.
Mr. Staff said: “The Joseph Abboud lifestyle brand continues to thrive. Just a few short years ago, we were in only 3 countries. By the end of 2007, the Joseph Abboud brand will be in 75 countries."
"We are very excited to be expanding into new markets in China and Asia and we are certain this expansion will generate profitable top-line growth as we develop new products, expand into new markets, and build our brand.”
The Company plans further expansion in Asia, and has entered into a strategic collaboration with Parkson, a premium department store name in Malaysia.
Over the next year, 10 Parkson department stores in Malaysia will feature the full range of Joseph Abboud menswear, with a focus on sportswear.
Parkson is a rapidly growing concern. First established in 1987, Parkson now has 34 department stores in Malaysia, 45 stores in China and three stores in Vietnam. Annual sales exceeded $1.3 billion in 2006.
