Bijou Brigitte group sales up

In the first three quarters of fiscal year 2007, Bijou Brigitte increased group sales by 7.3 % to EUR 261.5 million (30.09.2006: EUR 243.6 million). Like for like, sales were 3.2 % lower than the same period in the prior year.

The projection of group figures for the first nine months yielded group after-tax earnings of EUR 56.6 million, thereby EUR 0.9 million lower than the prior year's level (EUR 57.5 million). As of 30 September 2007, the group's pre-tax earnings lay at EUR 85.4 million resp.

EUR 3.7 million below that of the prior year (EUR 89.1 million). These results for the Bijou Brigitte Group have been prepared without verification of inventories and hence only on the basis of estimated value for material consumption.

Since the beginning of 2007, the shop network of the costume jewellery group has been expanded by 56 new openings. Ten stores were closed. On balance Bijou Brigitte operates a total of 977 shops as of 30 September 2007.

The number of shops remodelled, both domestically and abroad, was 53 during the reporting period. Five shops were moved to more profitable locations within shopping centres. In the first three quarters of the fiscal year 2007, the focus of shop expansion lay in Italy and France.

As of 30 September 2007, 63.5 % of the shops in the Bijou Brigitte Group were located abroad. In July 2007, Bijou Brigitte opened its first shop in Great Britain; and already the second in August. Both shops are located in shopping centres within Greater London.
