Tafford Uniforms, a leading supplier of nursing scrubs, shoes, and medical accessories, announced that two students have been awarded the Tafford Uniforms Nursing Scholarship.
Misty Blue Foster and Solande Louis are the third and fourth recipients of the Tafford Uniforms Nursing Scholarship, which was first awarded in June 2007.
The Tafford Uniforms Scholarship Committee selected two winners of $1,000 scholarships from an incredible pool of applicants.
Solande Louis, a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, realized that she wanted to be a nurse while watching the dedicated nurses care for her ailing mother.
Solande has accumulated over 1,000 hours of volunteer service at hospitals and nursing homes while working full time and pursuing her BSN in Nursing.
"Making a difference in people's lives and putting a smile on their faces, no matter what the situation may be, is the dream I long for," said Louis.
"I am greatly honored to have encountered those nurses who have unknowingly made a major impact on my life and decision to become a nurse. I will continue to pursue my dream and refuse to allow any hindrances."
Misty Blue Foster, an LVN candidate at Nursing Care Providers Vocational School, was raised in the California state foster care system after the loss of her mother, began working in healthcare while in high school, and eventually earned her CNA license. Misty Blue is currently pursuing the completion of an LVN program, with the ultimate goal of becoming a pediatric RN.
