People's Liberation Inc, the designer of high-end casual apparel under the brand names William Rast, J.Lindeberg and People's Liberation, debuted its William Rast 2009 Fall Collection at Bryant Park in New York City on Monday.
Emphasizing fashion under William Rast's 2009 “New America” theme, the runway show played to a full house of celebrities, press and buyers. Attendees included Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour; Carine Roitfeld, editor of the French edition of Vogue; and actor Gerard Butler.
In addition to the fashions unveiled specifically for the Fall 2009 season, the show included pieces that Creative Director Johan Lindeberg has made to measure for brand co-founder Justin Timberlake for Timberlake's public appearances at high-profile events such as the recent Grammy Awards telecast.
“We fully expected to wow the press and our current and future retailer customers at Bryant Park this year,” commented Colin Dyne, Chief Executive Officer of People's Liberation. “It is great to be working more closely than ever with Paris68's Marcella and Johan Lindeberg, now that they are re-located to Los Angeles and focused so effectively on building on the phenomenal success of the William Rast Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Collections.”
“The new tailoring has a lot of great attitude and works really well as a complement to our jeans culture and the iconic William Rast pieces, such as the biker jacket, flannel shirt and more,” said William Rast Creative Director Johan Lindeberg of the Paris68 design consultancy. “I am confident that we really made a memorable statement.”
